Shariff Juma, professionally known as Muzikal Sheriff, is a Kenyan reggae DJ, media entrepreneur, event curator and tech product builder, and Founder & CEO of Rastyle. He was born on 23 February 1981 in Nairobi, Kenya, and was raised and lived in Dandora, Nairobi, until 2004. His career connects apparel manufacturing, production and operations with reggae, entertainment, radio, live events, media and technology product development.

DJing began as a hobby around 2001. Around 2002, he joined Baraka Apparels, later Africa Apparels, in apparel manufacturing under the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) export framework. He started as a Quality Checker, progressed through Quality Controller and Quality Inspector responsibilities, moved into Production and eventually reached Production Manager-level responsibilities.

Working in international apparel manufacturing, with a company exporting directly to major US retailers and brands including Target, Gap, Walmart and Tommy Hilfiger, gave him practical experience in international quality assurance, production planning, workflow design, operational reporting, process improvement, workforce coordination and shipment deadlines. A recurring strength was identifying gaps in existing processes and building better workflows and reporting structures around them. This is the earliest documented professional expression of the systems thinking that later shaped his entertainment and product-building work. That grounding in international manufacturing standards also informs his approach to quality in Rastyle merchandise and apparel.

His professional club DJ career began in 2006 at Club Hedgehog in Jerusalem, Nairobi, which is now permanently closed. From roughly 2006 to 2015/2016, he sustained parallel careers: apparel production and management by day, DJing and entertainment by night. Increasing demands across both eventually led to burnout. Around 2015/2016, he left apparel manufacturing to concentrate increasingly on music, entertainment, Rastyle and entrepreneurship. This was a transition out of manufacturing, not the start of his DJ career.

Muzikal Sheriff's long-running public identity is closely connected to the organisation that became Rastyle. Firehouse began in December 2009 as Firehouse Sounds / Firehouse Entertainment and spent five years building reggae club parties and community events across Kenya. After its fifth anniversary, the outfit officially rebranded to Rastyle Limited on Monday, February 2, 2015. Contemporary coverage of that transition identified Shariff Juma — also known as The Muzikal Sheriff — as founder, DJ and CEO. Today, he continues to serve as Founder & CEO of Rastyle, overseeing an ecosystem spanning reggae, live events, media, music and community.

His broadcast history includes Radio Maisha's Reggae Splash from late 2015 to late 2019, alongside Tongola Mate and Deejay Patiz, with Maisha Reggae Mash Up following the main show. From January 2020 to January 31, 2023, he co-hosted #CeaseNSekkle on Vybez Radio with Nazizi Hirji. The approved broadcast records and supporting archives are documented on the Journey page.

Alongside radio and DJ work, Muzikal Sheriff has continued to operate in live entertainment as a promoter, event curator and performer. His performance career has also taken him beyond Kenya, with international appearances across the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, South Sudan, the United Kingdom and the United States. Selected television appearances and the full touring chronology remain documented on the Press page.

His work across music production, media, graphic and web design, and creative technology builds on this wider operating experience. Current product development across music, healthcare operations, group finance and personal development continues a long-standing practice: understanding real-world problems, identifying where processes break, and designing better ways for people, information and operations to work together. Technology provides a newer medium for that practice; it did not introduce him to systems building. Individual ventures and their development status are documented separately.

MuzikalSheriff.com is the canonical public home for this fuller story: Dandora roots, manufacturing and operations, the overlapping DJ and apparel years, Firehouse and Rastyle, radio and events, and the continuing expression of systems thinking through technology.
